FAQ

What are other photographers in my area charging for weddings and events?

Pricing can change based on MANY things and where you are based definitely has a huge part to play in it. If you're asking this question, you are not alone. In fact, asking this question is one of the first steps to learning how to get consistently booked for dream weddings and getting a perfect price that works for your business and clientele. This is one of the various things our team will do the research FOR you after we get your calculator results. We do the hard search of figuring out "the market" in your area and apply it to your results before we reach out with your final price estimate.

How do I come up with different wedding packages?

For many creatives, creating a pricing guide or plan can see extremely daunting. What if we are too far off from the business next to us? What if we overcharge on accident? What if I undercharge and I have to do the hard work anyway because it's already contracted now? These are all REAL problems many of us go through when starting our business. When coming up with event and wedding packages, you need to have a formula that accounts for your business expenses, travel, paid employees/second shooters, and your own take-home profit. This process can be unsteady and can change based on your business needs, but it should not be changing so often that your market and ideal client changes too often.

Do you mentor in business?

Yes! Lanna J Photography has mentorships in business education surrounding photography and other creative marketing related businesses. She specializes in working with beginner and new photographers or photographers trying to make the jump from normal sessions to elopements and big venue weddings. She helps scale your small business into something that makes profit every year, get you working LESS, and making a business foundation that can truly last through the stressful moments and seasons.

How much should I charge for my photography?

If you complete the pricing calculator form, our team will go through your results, your location/service area, experience, and more to give you base prices that will work for your business in a long term plan.

How will I know when my photography is profitable?

Revenue alone does not tell you if your business if profitable. Talent doesn't even help you "know" if your work is profitable. The only thing that tells you if your business is profitable is the original business equation you set up, stick to, and see the results for. When we talk about "profit" we must understand that is AFTER we subtract tax deductions and expenses... and yes, your take-home pay is included in that. PROFIT is everything after all of that...
